Blogs/social networking are Very important

The conference is 1/2 way through the 1st day and so far, its very interesting.

A few items to address:

I disagree that blogs aren’t an important function of the mainstream media as one of the speakers suggested.  The recent devastating Earthquake in Haiti  just echo’s that point.  A majority of the information available to “us” the mainstream media was coming to us via Twitter and other social networking sites, it was also the main source of information  that family members in the states were were utilizing  to get much needed information about their  loved ones and family members.

It also puts the power of the media in the hands of many, instead of a select few in high positions in editorial meetings.
